Trip to San Antonio

As promised, here’s the update about our overnight trip to San Antonio!

We arrived at the downtown Courtyard Marriott a bit after 10 pm, so we didn’t bother much with checking out the surroundings. However I can tell you that parts of downtown are not exactly the prettiest or friendliest looking neighborhoods.

The next morning we got breakfast at the bistro in the hotel lobby. No complimentary continental breakfast, which sucked and the bistro was definitely overpriced, but the service was great and the food was good. I got a starbucks vanilla iced coffee, orange juice and a strawberry/granola parfait while Jeremy had eggs, toast, ham, and coffee.

After breakfast we checked out, packed the car (the courtyard is one of the few to offer free on site, off street parking!) and walked to the Riverwalk (less than a mile).

I greatly enjoyed all of the mosaic art lining the Riverwalk’s bridges.

The fountains and ivy covered buildings made for a lovely walk. It was incredibly peaceful and relaxing. We really enjoyed it.

Went to Rivercity mall for lunch. Chinese food. Not very healthy. But the options were kinda limited.

We had planned to go to the Pearl Brewery but it closes at 5. Bummer. So next time we go that will be on the to-do list.

So we headed home.

A Favorite Thing

20140223-224604.jpg

These are a few of my favorite things… (And as I say that I’ve begun humming the song from The Sound of Music soundtrack.)

The Pilot G2 Pen. My favorite writing instrument of choice. And of course a flip notepad to go along with it. It writes smooth and simple and it even draws nicely. Feeling it my hand… seeing how smoothly it puts my ideas to paper… It makes me feel alive.

My favorite necklace. Something my hubby bought me way back when. I wear it incredibly often. It makes me feel connected. It gives me something to play with. I love having something little and simple and sentimental to be my connection to him and those memories.

My keychain. A gift from my sister. She knows me all too well. Doctor who is my favorite tv show and I love having a piece of that with me at all times.

The perfect lipstick. It is smooth and glossy and not too sticky. The perfect color. It makes me feel beautiful and confidant.

A coach purse. I know it’s kinda cliche. But some of them, like this one, are actually really cute. I would never pay retail price for them though. I’m crazy. But not that crazy.

Five O’Clock

Five O’Clock from now on will look like the dashboard of my car. Having a real 40 hour work week and a set 8:30-5 work schedule will be wonderful. I cannot wait to be able to plan things in advance and know what my schedule looks like. It will be wonderful to not have a job that thinks it can take over every aspect of my life.

Missing PopPop

I saw the scarf and the picture next to moms tv. The scarf was something my mother made for my great grandfather (PopPop). He is the one in the picture beside my mother. It has been almost five years since he passed and yet it feels like just yesterday. I miss him more than words can say.
